The highlight of Sangat 2019

“Faculty of Education” had the honour of inviting you to the “Youth Festival SANGAT-2019” of “Kadi Sarva Vishwavidyalaya” for The Inauguration Ceremony on 20th September,
2019 at 10:00 am onward.

Youth festivals are the cradles of the students’ artistic and cultural development. They have become a platform where young artistic talents are discovered. Youth festivals help to preserve our diversified cultural heritage. Many of the old forms which are on the verge of extinction are preserved and kept alive by including them in the youth festival competitions. This is a boon for future generations. This will certainly help the cultural growth of a country. As a whole, youth festivals give the opportunity to develop the values of mutual respect, love, communal harmony and national integration..

Event Rules

Each college will participate in events as per the rules of All India University Youth Festival and Kadi Sarva Vishwavidyalaya.
1. For Kalakar Yatra (Rally) only participants who are participating in the youth festival should participate in the Kalakar Yatra (Rally).
2. No prize will be declared for Kalakar Yatra (Rally). The theme of the rally should focus on the theme of the Youth Festival and KADI SARVA VISHWAVIDYALAYA.
3. Marks and ranks for Poetry recitation and Poetry Completion will not be considered for the over all championship. According to the new guideline of Youth Festival , these events are removed by AIU from Youth Festival. KSV organizes these events to provide the stage and to motivate the Participants.
4. It is compulsory to perform folk dance and classical dance on sound track i. e. CDs , Pen drive etc.. No orchestra or live music will be permitted for the Folk Dance or the Classical Dance.
5. All participants who are regular students must bring their identity card with a photograph duly signed by the principal of the college. Accompanists however should bring an authority letter from the college as it is required.
6. A participant can take part maximum in One Group event and two Individual events.
7. The Jury has the right to accept/reject any performance without stating any reason.
8. Participating college can send at least one, if necessary two, in-charge professors, who will maintain a liasion with the organizing Committee of youth festival.
9. Only three calls will be given during the event to call the participant for the performance. The individual or the team will have to report at the stage. Failing which, the next team/individual, will be called to perform.
10. The Chief Coordinator and the Organizing Committee will appoint Event In-charges, committee members & officials to conduct the competitions and make announcements. No other teacher/student will be allowed to intervene in the organization of the event or performances.
11. The Chief Coordinator and the Organizing Committee has the right to delay / postpone any item due to unavoidable circumstances.
12. Individuals / Teams will compete according to the schedule prepared by the Organizing Committee.
13. Colleges and participants are requested to make the photo copies of the registration form and the College summary sheet as per their requirement.
14. Registration Forms with Summary sheet, duly filled, should be submitted to the Organizing Committee between 19th to 21st August 2019.

A. Eligibility Rules:

1. Only bonafide, full time student, who is enrolled for a degree or post degree or diploma course which is of a minimum duration of one academic year and whose examination is conducted by the University subsequent to passing the 12th class examination under the 10+2 pattern of education conducted by a recognized Board of Higher Secondary/Senior Secondary in the country or an equivalent examination shall be eligible to participate in the Inter University Cultural Activities.

2. Students of our University shall be considered to be bonafide students and shall be eligible to participate provided they fulfill other conditions. However, students enrolled in correspondence course, casual students, external students and students pursuing bridge courses shall not be eligible.

3. Not more than 7 years have elapsed since a student passed the examination qualifying him/her for first admission to a degree or diploma course of a University or College affiliated to a University.

4. A student employed on full time basis shall not be eligible to participate.

5. A student shall not be allowed to represent more than one University during a single academic year.

6. Provisional admission to a course of a University or College shall not make the student eligible to represent the University.

7. In case of a student migrating from one University to another, his/her migration case will be considered eligible only after his/her admission in the new University is regularized and he/she is admitted as a bonafide student by the new University.

B. Explanations:

1. For the purpose of computing years of eligibility, one year means the academic year in which the cultural activity is held irrespective of whether the student’s result is declared or not. It will normally be extended from June/July to 12 calendar months of the next year.

C. Disqualifications for violation of Eligibility Rules :

1. Any disqualification of a participant on the grounds of ineligibility will result in the automatic scrapping of the contingent for that academic year. The contingent shall also be debarred from participating in the youth cultural activities to be held in the following years.

Music

(a) Classical Vocal Solo: (Hindustani/Karnataka)
(1) Only one entry per institute is allowed.
(2) Time for stage / Instruments setting is maximum 2 minutes.
(3) Maximum number of accompanists are two.
(4) Item can be presented in either Hindustani or Carnatic Style.
(5) Cinema songs are not allowed under this item.
(6) Sufficient thought and care must be exercised in the choice of raga and composition.
(7) Judgment will be based on the qualities like swara, tal, selection of raga, composition and general impression.
(8) Duration of performance is 10 minutes.
(9) No electronic devices or pre-recorded music is allowed.

(b) Classical Instrumental Solo (Percussion-Tal Vadya)
(includes tabla, dholak, mridang, pakhawaj, etc ; does not include drums, congo, octopad, etc)
(1) Only one entry per institute is allowed.
(2) Time for stage / instruments setting is maximum 2 minutes.
(3) Maximum number of accompanists are two.
(4) Participants must bring their own instruments.
(5) Item can be presented in either Hindustani or Carnatic Style.
(6) Judgment will be based on the qualities like tal, selection of Raga, composition and general impression.
(7) Duration of performance is 10 minutes.

(c) Classical Instrumental Solo (Non-percussion-swarvadya)
(1) Only one entry per institute is allowed.
(2) Time for stage / instruments setting is maximum 2 minutes.
(3) Maximum number of accompanists is two.
(4) Participants must bring their own instruments. Casio/electrical instrument is not allowed.
(5) Instruments of western origin adapted according to the Indian Raga system are allowed.
(6) Item can be presented in either Hindustani or Carnatic Style.
(7) Judgment will be based on the qualities like tal, selection of raga, composition and general impression.
(8) Duration of performance is 10 minutes.

(d) Light Vocal (Indian):
(1) Only one vocalist per institute is allowed.
(2) Time for stage / instruments setting is maximum 2 minutes.
(3) The number of accompanists would not be more than two.
(4) Duration of the song shall be between 4 to 6 minutes.
(5) Only non-film songs/geet/ghazal/bhajan/shabad and abhanga can be presented.
(6) Judgment will be based on the qualities like swara, tal, selection of raga, composition and general impression etc.
(7) Electronic devices are allowed but no pre-recorded music (Karaoke) is permitted.
(8) No film song should be presented.

(e) Light Vocal (Western):
(1) Only one entry per institute is allowed.
(2) Time for stage / instruments setting is maximum 2 minutes.
(3) The number of accompanists would not be more than two.
(4) Duration of performance shall be between 4 to 6 minutes.
(5) Language of the song shall only be English.
(6) Judgment will be made on the qualities like composition, rhythm, co-ordination and general impression etc.
(7) Electronic devices are allowed but no pre-recorded music (Karaoke) is permitted.
(8) No film song should be presented.

(f) Group Song (Indian):
(1) Only one team per institute is allowed.
(2) Two group songs will be presented by the same team out of which one will be Folk songs while another will be Patriotic song.
(3) Maximum number of singers in a group should not be more than six and minimum three. Maximum number of accompanists playing instruments shall be three.
(4) The group songs should be taken from Indian songs which can be only from regional language
(5) No film song should be presented as group song.
(6) Maximum time allowed for the group song is 10 minutes which does not include setting time. The setting time for a group shall not exceed 2 minutes.
(7) Judging of this item will be based on the quality of singing only and not on make-up, costumes and actions of the team.
(8) Electronic devices are allowed but no pre-recorded music (Karaoke) is permitted.

(g) Group Songs (Western):
(1) Only one entry per Institute is allowed.
(2) Maximum 6 singers in a group and minimum 3. Maximum number of accompanists playing instruments shall be three.
(3) The group songs should be taken from English language.
(4) Maximum time allowed for the group song is 6 minutes and minimum time is 3 minutes which does not include setting time. The setting time for a group shall not exceed 2minutes.
(5) Judging of this items will be on the basis of quality of singing only and not on make-up, costumes and actions of the team.
(6) Electronic devices are allowed but no pre-recorded music (Karaoke) is permitted.
N.B.: In the item of Group Song (Indian) there will be a limit of 4 (four) instruments including all the instruments played by the accompanists & student. Student can play only one Instrument from the team participating.

(h) Folk Orchestra

(1) Each University can send only one team.
(2) The team shall consist of up to 12 participants.
(3) The group can consist of all boys or all girls or combined.
(4) The duration of the performance will be a minimum for 7 and a maximum for 10 minutes.
(5) This does not include setting time which shall not be more than 5 minutes.
(6) Up to three professional accompanists are allowed who should be in different dress from the student participants so that they could be easily identified.
(7) The professional accompanists shall sit/stand separately from the participants and shall not lead the team.
(8) The team may present preferably those folk tunes which are recognized as folk tunes of the state to which the university belongs.

Dance

(a) Folk/Tribal Dance:
(1) Only one Team per institute is allowed.
(2) Maximum number of participants allowed per team is ten and minimum should be six The team may consist of all boys, all girls or a combination of both.
(3) The number of accompanists permissible is five.
(4) The dance can be either primitive or a folk dance (Indian style) but not a classical one.
(5) Duration of the dance should be 8- 10 minutes.
(6) Three copies of a brief note (2-3 lines introduction) giving the theme and the text of the song is to be submitted compulsorily on the day of performance.
(7) The participating team will be responsible for removal of their sets properties etc. immediately after the completion of their performance.
(8) Judgment will be based on the basis of Rhythm, Formation, Expression, Costumes, Make-up, Sets and Overall Effect.
(9) Time for Sets / Instruments setting is up to 2 minutes.
(10) C.D., Pen-drives, and pre-recorded music is compulsory no orchestra or live music is allowed.
(11) Songs from films are not allowed.

(b) Classical Dance (Indian):
(1) Each Institute can send only one entry.
(2) The classical dance can be from any of the approved schools of dances such as Kathak, Kathakali,Bharat Natyam, Manipuri, Kuchipudi, Mohinittam and Odissi etc.
(3) The participant is allowed 8-10 minutes including time for preparation. Maximum three accompanists are permissible.
(4) Judgment will be based basically on the qualities like Tal, Technique, Rhythm, Abhinaya or Expression, Costume, Footwork and General Impression etc.
(5) Three copies of a brief note on the description of dance story involved in it and of the accompanying song with its meaning in Gujarati, Hindi or English must be submitted compulsorily on the day of performance.
(6) C.D., pen-drives, and pre-recorded music is allowed
(7) Songs from films are not allowed.

Literary Events

(a) Quiz:
(1) Each institute can send a team of three participants.
(2) There will be a written preliminary round and five teams will be selected for the final round
(3) The finals will be oral with audio-visual questions.
(4) The specific rules regarding evaluation procedure, time to reply a particular answer and the type of round will be given before the actual start of the competition

(b) Elocution:
(1) Each institute will be represented by one speaker.
(2) Medium of expression will be Hindi / English / Gujarati.
(3) Each speaker will be allowed to speak for a maximum of 5 minutes with a warning bell at 4th minute.
(4) Subject/Topic of Elocution will be announced three days before the competition on the website of Faculty of Education (http://www.foeksv.org)
(5) The performance will be judged in one language (quotations/ phrases allowed in second language).
(6) The item shall be prose or poetry and not song.
(7) The sequence of speakers will be decided by a draw of lots.

(c) Debate:
(1) Each Institute will be represented by the two debaters; one will speak for; while another will speak against the motion.
(2) Medium of expression will be Gujarati, Hindi or English.
(3) Topic of Debate will be announced 24 hours in advance on the website of Faculty of Education ((http://www.foeksv.org)
(4)Each debater will be allowed to speak for maximum of 5 minutes.
(5) The competitor from each Institution will speak for and the other against the motion.
(6) Individual participant from each institute, though a team, may speak in different languages.
(7) The performance will be judged in one language (quotations/ phrases allowed in second language).
(8) Each team will speak in the order of the college code announced at the time of the event.

(d) Poetry-Recitation:
(1) One participant per institute is allowed.
(2) Medium of expression will be in Gujarati, Hindi or English.
(3) Maximum time allowed to each participant shall be 5 minutes while minimum 4 minutes.
(4) The title of poem and name of author should be given to professor in charge at the time of registration.
(5) Judgment will be based purely on recitation skills (Reading may invite negative marking).

(e) Pad Purti (Poetry Completion):
(1) One Participant per institute is allowed.
(2) Medium of expression will be in Gujarati, Hindi or English.
(3) The opening line of poem will be given at the beginning of competition. The participant has to complete within 1 (one) hour.
(4) Duration for recitation by participant is maximum 3 minutes.

Theatre

(a) One Act Play
1) Only one entry shall be accepted from each institute.
2) The duration of the play should not exceed 30 minutes.
3) Time will be counted as soon as the signal is given or the team starts giving introduction, whichever is earlier. Empty stage to empty stage shall be followed strictly. For stage setting and removal of set and properties up to 10 minutes will be given after taking charge of the stage.
4) The number of participants should not exceed nine and the maximum number of accompanists should not exceed three. The participating team shall bring their own set/stage property, make up material etc. Light and general property such as ordinary furniture may be provided on advance information.
5) Participants may speak in Hindi, English or any regional language of India, In case, the language is a regional one, the synopsis of the play with translation in English or Hindi must be submitted to the in-charge of the competition on the day of registration.
6) The participating team must report to the in-charge of the competition at least two hours before the presentation of the play.
7) Judgment will most likely be based on the qualities of the play like theme, work on acting, stage craft, design and general impression etc.
8) Decision of the panel of judges will be final and binding upon all.
9) Accompanists will either speak from the background or will play upon musical instruments for background music. They shall not appear or the stage.

(b)Skit:
(1) Only one team per institute will be allowed.
(2) Minimum 4 and maximum number of 6 participants are allowed to participate in a team.
(3) Maximum time allotted for each item is 10 minutes and 5 minutes additionally is given for the setting up time.
(4) Use of make-up, drapery and background music is allowed. No lewd remarks, expressions of any character, are allowed.
(5) Participating team should submit three copies of the synopsis of the theme of Skit in the language of performance (Hindi/ English/ Gujarati) on the day of performance.
(6) The item will be judged basically on the qualities like theme, acting, stage craft, design and general Impression.
(7) Vulgarity or bitter insinuation in presentation should be avoided. Only innocent satire or humorous expected.

(c) Mime:
(1) Only one entry per institute will be entertained.
(2) Maximum number of six participants is allowed to participate in this item.
(3) Judgment will most likely be based on qualities like idea, creativity of presentation, use of make up, music and general impression.
(4) Duration of performance shall not exceed 5 minutes.
(5) Participating team cannot use costumes, sets or properties like those used in a play. Make- up, dress and music can be allowed. Make-up should be uniform across all the participants of the team.

(d) Mimicry:
(1) Each participant artist shall be given 5 minutes.
(2) Participants may mimic sound of machines and speeches of well known persons etc. including film personalities.
(3) Only one Participant is allowed.
(4) Marking will be based on:
(i) Skill of imitation
(ii) Variety of sound and voices mimicked
(iii) Presentation.
(5) Medium of expression can be a Gujarati, Hindi or English.
(6) It should necessarily be cultured and pleasant piece of art.

Fine Arts

(a) On the spot Painting:
(1) Each institute will be represented by one participant.
(2) Item will be conducted on the spot and the participants will be requested to do painting on the subject given by the in-charge(s) of the competitions.
(3) Duration will not be more than 2 hours 30 minutes.
(4) Size of the painting will be half imperial size drawing paper i.e. 22”×15”.
(5) Painting can be done using oil, water, crayons, poster or pastel colours.
(6) Candidates will bring their own material like brushes, paints, etc. Only the paper/sheet will be provided by the host Institute.
(7) Three subjects/topics will be given on the spot (Out of which participant has to choose any one).

(b) Collage:
(1)Each institute will be represented by one participant.
(2) Item will be conducted on the spot on the given topic/subject, sheet size 22” × 15”.
(3) Duration will not be more than 2 hours 30 minutes.
(4) Participants are requested to bring their own scissors and pasting material along with old magazines and newspaper.
(5) Collage has to be prepared from old magazines or newspapers only. The host college will only provide the drawing paper of the size 22” × 15”.
(6) Three subjects/topics will be given on the spot (Out of which participant has to choose any one).

(c) Poster Making:
(1) Each institute will be represented by one participant.
(2) Item will be conducted on the spot and on the subject topic/theme given.
(3) Duration will not be more than 2 hours 30 minutes.
(4) Participant will bring their own material. Only the drawing paper/sheet 22”×15” will be provided. by the host College/University.
(5) Three subjects/topics will be given on the spot (Out of which participant has to choose any one).

(d) Clay Modeling:
(1) Participant can compose human figure, animals or birds. Topic will be given on the spot.
(2) Each Institute will be represented by one participant.
(3) Item will be conducted on the spot.
(4) Duration will not be more than 2 hours 30 minutes.
(5) Participants will bring their own clay.
(6) Size of the item should not be less than 10” in height of synthetic clay & required material. A base (of cardboard or wood) can be used to display the model.
(7) Three subjects/topics will be given on the spot (Out of which participant has to choose any one).

(e) Cartooning:
(1) Each institute will be represented by one participant.
(2) Cartoon has to be drawn on the spot on the given subject/idea.
(3) Duration will not be more than 2 hours 30 minutes.
(4) Participants will bring their own material. Only the drawing paper (22”x15” size) will be provided by the host College/University.
(5) Idea should be innovative and original.
(6) Three subjects/topics will be given on the spot (Out of which participant has to choose any one).

(f) Rangoli:
(1) Each institute will be represented by one participant.
(2) Duration will not be more than 2 hours 30 minutes.
(3) Participants will bring their own material. This art is known differently in various regions such as Mandna, Alpana, Alekhan, Kolam, Rangoli etc. For this the medium and form for expression can be free hand, pictorial or descriptive.
(4) Any medium may be used-Poster Colours, Flower Petals or saw, dust or pulses or rice without pasting.
(5) Three subjects/topics will be given on the spot (Out of which participant has to choose any one).
(6) Participants will bring their own material. Only the Rangoli space (2’x2’ size) will be provided by host College/University.

(g) Spot Photography
1) Each institution can send one participant.
2) The participant has to bring his/her own digital camera of not more than 12 mega pixels (TO TAKE PHOTOGRAPH USING MOBILE IS NOT ACCEPTED, ONLY SLR CAMERA IS MUST).
3) The digital camera should have a memory card which will be formatted by the judges before the commencement of the contest.
4) The time limit will be 2.30 hours.
5) The participant has to capture 5 photographs on the theme announced on the spot by the judges.
6) No mixing, matching or morphing of photographs will be permitted.
7) Software such as Photoshop etc. for enhancing images is not permitted.
8) The organizers will have all rights for the use of the pictures as and when they deem fit.
9) Digital images are evaluated on the basis of (1) IMPACT (II) COMPOSITION (III) TECHNICAL QUALITY, and (IV) SUITABILITY for the specific theme.
10) The additional instructions will be announced on the spot.

(h) Installation:
1) Install or create an atmosphere related with the subject or title of the installation. The size of the installation should be 5’x5’x5′ maximum.
2) Participants can use all the material which they use in other art compositions like cartooning, painting, rangoli, poster, collage and clay modeling.
3) Participants can use waste material also which is available in the surroundings or can take any material from outside also.
4) Participants are not allowed to use any already composed images or forms available in the market. They should compose or create their own image with the raw material.
5) This is a group activity as four (4) participants can participate but they will create only one installation whose size must not be bigger than 5’x’5’x5′.

(I) Mehendi :
1) Item will be conducted on the spot on the given subject/idea.
2) Additional instructions will be announced on the spot.
3) Participants shall bring their own material. Only traditional Indian Motifs can be used and Arabian Mehendi, use of glitter is not allowed.
4) Mehendi can be applied on both sides of one forearm (till Elbow).
